Build your salad from scratch or grab something fresh on the go from our selection of bagged lettuce or prepackaged kits and bowls.

Market District Salads

Our lettuce is local. We work with Ohio-based farmers like Great Lakes Growers and Buckeye Fresh who support our communities and the environment with innovation and sustainability.

  • Watercress — Delicate yet flavorful. This dainty green is wonderful puréed into soups, tossed into salads, layered in sandwiches or added for garnish.
  • Icicle — Gourmet baby iceberg lettuce.
  • Dillicious Blend — A blend of fresh, complementary leaves infused with fresh dill to provide a super fresh flavor and aromatic experience.
  • Buckeye Blend Salad — Ohio's finest. A delicious blend of our favorite lettuce varieties.
  • Summer Crisp — Beautiful green, crisp unique blend of romaine, lollo and Batavia.

Market District Nourish Bowls

Eat a warm, healthy and hearty meal even when you’re in a hurry. Microwave our low calorie Nourish Bowls in less than 5 minutes and enjoy fresh veggies noodles and tons of wholesome, satisfying ingredients any time. Look for them in our Produce Department.

  • Basil Pesto – Kohlrabi noodles, kale, vegan chick’n, and grated Parmesan in pesto sauce.
  • Monterey Risotto - Butternut squash, kale, kohlrabi, and brown rice in roasted garlic sauce.
  • Sesame Sriracha - Broccoli, kohlrabi, cabbage, carrots, snap peas, brown rice in sesame Sriracha sauce.
  • Southwest Chipotle - Cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, sweet potatoes, black beans, chipotle corn salsa & shredded Cheddar.

If you’re more into making your own salad, start with a fresh foundation. We have lettuce in all the blends you love, like 50/50 Spring Greens & Spinach Mix, Leafy Romaine, and Spring Greens. Plus, more you just have to try, including Sweet & Crunchy Red and Green Butter Lettuce, Sweet Hearts Butter Lettuce & Romaine Hearts, and Veggie Lovers Veggie Salad.

Vigeo Gardens — an agricultural company located in Downtown Akron, OH — is our microgreen go-to. Their mission is to reconnect people to the origins of their food and to cut farm-to-fork wastage by ensuring that responsible practices are always followed.

Their process starts with non-GMO seeds and an ultra-clean environment. Every plant is grown in either hydroponics or all-natural soil. And, the entire farm is located in a re-purposed tire factory that runs on the most efficient utility schemes available.

Edamame, Avocado & Arugula Sandwich

Compliments of Chef Crystal Baldwin

Serves: 4

Total Time: 30 min.

  • 1½ cups Melissa’s organic shelled edamame
  • ¼ cup green onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. cilantro, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. mint, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. lemon zest
  • 3 Tbsp. Market District extra virgin olive oil
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. pepper
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ⅓ English cucumber, sliced thinly
  • 2 cups Market District arugula microgreens
  • 8 slices Market District harvest multigrain bread

Place edamame, green onion, garlic, cilantro and mint into a bowl or food processor; pulse to finely chop.

Add lemon juice, lemon zest and olive oil and purée until smooth. Add a little water if needed to reach a spreadable consistency and season with salt and pepper.

Split the edamame spread evenly between 4 slices of the bread.

Evenly divide the avocado, cucumber and arugula on each slice of bread. Top each sandwich with the remaining slice of bread.
