Accessibility Policy

Giant Eagle is passionate about providing great service to our customers. We are fully committed to understanding the needs of our diverse customers and making sure our services and content are accessible to customers of all abilities; therefore, we take an active role in continually working towards meeting and exceeding industry standards for in-store and digital accessibility.

Accessibility at Giant Eagle

Giant Eagle is continually improving the accessibility of our website by striving to exceed the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1 Level AA). As we improve and develop new websites, apps, and other digital properties, we aim to design with accessibility standards in mind. This means regularly testing whether the content is:

  • Perceivable - information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive;
  • Usable- user interface components and navigation must be operable;
  • Understandable -information and the operation of user interface must be understandable; and
  • Robust -content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

As part of our efforts to achieve compliance, we monitor HTML elements and attributes and test them against WCAG 2.1 Level AA or higher success criteria. We then assign each tested element an Accessibility Score of 0 to 100. All tested elements feed into the total score.
Please note it is not always possible to test and verify accessibility in all areas of this website, such as third-party websites, social media links and feeds, embedded content, etc. These sites are not maintained by Giant Eagle and may present challenges for individuals with disabilities, which we are not able to control or remedy.
